Needs assessment : There are many possibilities that could cause pain in your left lower abdomen. It could be related to an ovary (i.e. a cyst), but if it continues or especially if it becomes more frequent or severe, get it checked to make sure it isn't something like your GI tract (i.e. hernia, diverticulitis, colitis), a muscle, genitourinary (i.e. kidney stone, ectopic pregnancy) or lymphatics (i.e. adenitis).

"Pinched nerve"?: You may have what is commonly called a "pinched nerve" in your spine but there are a couple of other more serious problems in your abdomen that may be the reason for your complaint. I think it is essential to see your family physician ASAP.

Consider hernia: Can't diagnose simply from description, but often times hernias (where the bowel pokes through the normal muscle) can occur in the area you described, and can cause the same symptoms.  Usually symptoms worsen during physical activity, like straining.   Hernias aren't always dangerous, but if it is bothersome, worth getting checked out.

went to er last night with pain in left lower abdomen.dr said it was colitis. been feeling tired and runnin low fever. it hurts bad now. what can i do?

Causes of colitis: Inflammation (infection, ischemic, ibd) of large intestine = colitis. For ibd: ulcerative colitis primarily involves the lining of the large intestine whereas crohn's is transmural (full thickness involvement by) inflammation of any part of the GI tract (from mouth to anus). Both involve similar pathways of inflammation, are similarly treated, increase risk of colon cancer, &amp; may require surgery.

16yo daughter keeps experiencing pain in left lower abdomen on and off. dull ache. she said sort of same pain as when she had uti but no other symptoms. today she said she felt literal pop heard in my left side slightly above hip , still hurts ?

: A visit with your pediatrician or pediatric urgent care is recommended. She may have a UTI and the hip joint should be examined. A virtual visit with HT is also available and labs can be ordered. Keep her well hydrated, cranberry juice is recommended.

Probably not: Kidney stones are diagnosed on ct scan. Can be missed if small. To cause such pain, then are large enough to be seen on imaging.

Diverticulitis?: Do you have any diarrhea?  Fever?  This could be acute diverticulitis, which would require antibiotics if confirmed. A CT scan of your abdomen and pelvis would be in order.
