Dr. or ER can check: The more common causes of lower back pain include:  back muscle strain, back ligament sprain, arthritis, urine infection, kidney infection, kidney stone, tumor in the spine or kidney or other places, fractured vertebra, fibromyalgia, other bacterial infection, etc...  With such a long list of possibilities, a doctor needs to evaluate. Worrisome chest pain or breathing problems is an ER emergency.

Family practice : It sounds like they were checking for possible kidney infection or stones. Have them look for liver or gallbladder disease. An ultrasound and liver function tests could be helpful.

Seek medical help.: Chronic kidney disease can lead to several complications leading to breathing difficulty such as fluid gain, anemia, acidosis, infection.  Difficulty breathing can be an emergency, so I recommend seeking medical attention right away.

: Voiding should not be painful when you have kidney problem except in acute urinary tract infection but urinary tract infection does not cause other symptoms which you mention. If you do not have a family doctor, you should go to ER or urgent care. If you have a family doctor, call the office for an urgent visit within the next 2 days.

Why lysine?: Good sources of lysine are high-protein foods such as eggs, red meat, lamb, pork, and poultry, soy, beans and peas, cheese and fish such as cod and sardines. There has been a case report of fanconi's syndrome due to long term use of high dose lysine, but no other renal impairment. Not recommended to be taken if you already have renal impairment. Stop taking supplements and eat a healthy diet.

Probably not: If that is the only thing you notice, then it would not likely be a sign of kidney failure or disease.  Your doctor can do simple blood and urine tests to see how your kidneys are functioning.

Daily dialysis: This patient is in a high risk category for dialysis since EF is 15% due to CHF or recent severe MI. BP must be low, and now he has pericardial effusion. He will need daily dialysis, some albumin will improve BP and will help removal of fluid due to faster fluid movement from the interstitial space to the vascular space.

This : This very well may represent a new stone.  You should see your urologist for exam, urine testing, possible ultrasound versus non-contrast ct scan, and basic labs.  In the meantime, increase fluid consumption.

Call your doctor now: Your symptoms are concerning. You might have a kidney infection which is common with kidney stones. Kidney infections can be serious. At the very least you should go to urgent care tonight.
