Unlikely related: Most likely the pain is unrelated to the kidney stone since the kidney stone pain would most likely persist. They often cause blood in the urine which you may or may not see. Most often it does change the color of the urine, however.

? Gallstones: While unrelated to kidney stones, it's not impossible to also be experiencing colicky pain from cholelithiasis. Gallstone pain is typically precipitated from the ingestion of fatty foods, and is manifested as pain under the right rib cage and penetrating toward the back ("under your shoulder blade").  Gallstones are typically radiolucent and, therefore, need to be seen on US or CT scan.

i had kidney stones with pain in my left side a few weeks ago. this week i had pain in my ruq and right neck/shoulder. my doctor suspects cholecystitis this time. could there be a connection between the two? i also have a small lump on my collarbone?

: Kidney stones are not related to gall bladder disease. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Your doctor who has examined you would be in better position to address your concerns.. Wish you good health!

what can b done to lessen kidney stone pain?

REMOVE stone, meds: Obviously when the kidney stone passes the pain will resolve.  If the kidney stone is too large (>4mm) it is unlikely to pass on its own and referral to a urologist is in order.  To help pass a kidney stone fluid hydration will help (er gives IV fluid bolus).  I have found drinking 1-2 gatorades (full strength) acts as an IV bolus.  Narcotic pain meds can help with the pain. Hope you are better!

Obstruction = Pain: Kidney stones that are within the kidney and not causing any obstruction to the flow of urine are generally not symptomatic.  If a stone blocks the flow of urine, pressure builds up above the stone causing stretching (hydronephrosis) and deep pain.   That said, sometimes a stone can be obstructing a single calyx (see image) and can cause pain, even though the stone is not within the ureter.

Stone: I would suggest a urinalysis and an exam to make sure you don't have a UTI. You may need an X-ray to make sure it's not a new or residual stone.  Also you should have a CT Urogram or IVP if you've never had one to make sure there are no anatomical issues.

Nephrolithiasis : Drink plenty of water. Catch the stone when you can and get it analyzed.  Let us know if its calcium oxalate or some other forms of stone.  Depending on the stone type, lemonade maybe beneficial. A blood test is advised.
