i have pain in the base and a sharp pain at the tip of the second toe. the pain has moved to the base of the third and fourth toe. i did not have any injury. it feels like its swollen, but is not. it feels like a wrinkle. what should i do?

Metarsalgia: It may be metatarsalgia, or ligament damage to the joint capsules for your MTP joints 2-4. It could be from repetitive micro trauma (not necessarily a big injury) but over time due to overloading conditions, cause swelling and pain to the ball of the foot.  You may need to be evaluated for ligament rupture.

Pain: common causes for foot pain would be metatarsalgia another possibility would be a Morton's neuroma.

i have 2 issues with my left foot. the first is a sharp pain on the pad of my foot between the 3rd and 4th toe. the second is a pain/feathering(?) between my big and second toe when i lift the second toe, this is also numb between the base of both?

: Pain in the foot can be caused by injury (if you experienced a traumatic blow or pressure), muscular (if you overexerted by exercise or long standing), and tendon (if there was a stretching or movement that might have damaged tendons or ligaments). Your best option is to have the foot examined to make sure there is nothing going on that needs treatment. It may get worse if left untreated.

Why was X-ray taken: Swelling is only concern.  Third metatarsal incidental finding.

Many things: Many things can cause this type of problem.  There could be a painful arthritis in the toe, there could be an infection, there could be nerve damage.  I would recommend evaluation by a physician.

See below: If the toe is turning up it may be due to trauma or contraction of the tendon.  Since it is turning it is stretching the tendon and when walking the toe is in an unnatural position creating more pressure and pain.

Might be a hammertoe: need to see a podiatrist for further evaluation. You may have contraction of your toe which is called hammertoe deformity. It may also be a corn which is as a result of contraction of the toes and pressure from shoes. It could also be some type of soft tissue mass. So do see a podiatrist for the right diagnosis and treatment.

my toenail on my third toe is discolored and much darker than the rest. what would cause this?
