Most ova are lost not through ovulation, but some believe through a process called apoptosis.

Presume yes: Having one blighted ovum doesn't lead to any predictions about future pregnancies, because plenty of women have one blighted ovum during their lives. However, if a woman has 2 or 3 blighted ova, her doctor may look for a genetic cause or other reason for the repeating problem.

A little early yet: Normally at about 6-7 weeks one should be able to see a fetal pole on transvaginal ultrasound.  At about 6 1/2-7 weeks a fetal heart beat can be observed on a transvaginal ultrasound.  So you have a little time yet.  Hope this helps.  Best of luck.  Dr R

Adoption: This is a value judgement, of course, adoption is a wonderufl thing. A baby who is already born and needing parents finds loving parents to live with. While time consuming and at tmes expensive, adoption is not complicated. Having a ovum donor baby is complicated and usually expensive, and carries the inherent risk of failure (much greater than adoption). When it works, it's wonderful too!

Multiple ways: There are multiple ways to determine ovulation which is around the time of fertilization.

1. LH surge sticks (determine the surge before ovulation)
2. Cervical mucus change (pre-ovulatory)
3. Basal body temperature change (ovulatory)
4. Ultrasound (pre-ovulatory)
5. If regular cycles, subtract 14 days from the first day of your cycle and that is the cycle day you ovulate. Ovulation calculators.

Follicle size?: I think you mean the size of your follicles - which are fluid-filled sacs that contain eggs. Tablets such as Clomid (clomiphene) or letrozole, injectable gonadotropins like fsh, or a combination of tablets and injectables can be used to help you ovulate. Making multiple follicles increases the risk of multiple pregnancy with these treatments. See a fertility specialist (rei) for testing and treatment options.

Receiving or giving?: If you want to donate your eggs it's a personal decision, but it can bring great joy to another woman struggling with infertility. If you are considering conceiving with donor eggs i wish i could send you a photo of one of our successful couples! the vast majority who choose donor eggs succeed & are happy with their decision. Your clinic may have some former patients who are willing to talk to you.

Its complicated: 1. Preference: do you prefer to know your egg donor or not know here. 2. Medical issues: you are not able to evaluate if she suitable in terms of egg reserve and psychologically to be an egg donor. Even if you reach out to her then what will you do. Maybe a better approach is to consult with a reproductive endocrinologist about oocyte donation first. Remember fb is not a private or discrete site.

Blighted ovum: A blighted ovum is defined as a empty gestational sac. During the first trimester an intrauterine gestational sac is seen, but there is no evidence of a fetus. This most often is due to a chromosomal abnormality with the fetus.
