14 days before: An easy way to remember ovulation is that it occurs 14 days before your next cycle. If you know how many days between periods then you can calculate an approximate ovulation date. We are not able to know whether or not a certain individual ovulates early or late during any one menstrual cycle.

Possible: It can be implantation pain. Do you want to make sure ? You take a pregnancy test 3 weeks after the unprotected sex.

Hard to tell: It is a wait and see game. If you miss your period take a pregnancy test. Plan b is not perfect.

No need to repeat: You stop doing ovulation kits after it turns positive because it will stay positive for awhile. The hormone it detects lingers for a few days. If you are having regular periods and your ovulation tests show you are ovulating there is simply no value or utility in doing more tests.

why would i get a positive ovulation test  one day then negitive results for 6 days then another positive result that only lasted three hours?

Depends: It  depends  on the  test you  use.  Sometimes  using  concentrated  urine( like  the  first specimen of  the  morning) may  result  in a  false positive  test.  The  test measures an lh  surge  but  may  have  false  positive  results  around  the  time  of ovulation.  Perhaps  changing   the  type of  test  may be  helpful  if you are  not  pregnant  this month. Good luck!

my lh surges are over 8 days long for the past 6 months with regular 29 day cycles. what could cause this, and how do i know when i am ovulating?

I am skeptical: that your LH surges are actually 8 days long if your cycles are regular. The OPK you are using is either misleading you or may be used incorrectly. The OPK is not intended to be used each day once you detect a surge, so I'd suggest strongly that after you get a + you stop using the OPK, it is not necessary or useful to keep testing. Yes: If your age is 43 you may have "early recruitment" which is when your body recruits eggs early because your body has to work harder to get the egg to release (due to lower egg quality).

The ovulation kit lets you know a day before you ovulate. If your menses comes 2 weeks after you think you ovulated, then you were correct that you ovulated on day 6 or 7 (21 day cycle).

is it possible to ovulate later than 24-48 hours after an ovidrel shot? like 6 days later?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: Ovidrel is only given when you have a ripe follicule.  Ovulation typically occurs 30-36 hours after the SQ injection is given.  
Then again anything is possible

Date: If the dates are accurate you conceived approximately 4 weeks 6 days ago. However, early dating is not very accurate.

I don't know: But probably not related to ovulation. Lots of reasons for nausea; i'd look for a different cause.
