Yes: If your age is 43 you may have "early recruitment" which is when your body recruits eggs early because your body has to work harder to get the egg to release (due to lower egg quality). The ovulation kit lets you know a day before you ovulate. If your menses comes 2 weeks after you think you ovulated, then you were correct that you ovulated on day 6 or 7 (21 day cycle).

In theory: In theory your first ovulation could happen almost anytime after stopping the pill, but 6 days after ACTIVE pills would be unusually soon. Good wishes.
