i still get vertigo mostly after a cold since my first bout of labyrinthitis 15 years ago. should i seek vtr treatment? is my vestibularnerve damaged?

Vertigo is Rx: Dizziness is, as many symptoms, has multiple causes, I needed to know what was the first reason, and how it was treated. usually it has to do with the ear, I would treat for sinusitis 14 course and treat with anti vertigo medication during the day is different than at night and usually I had little or no recurrence in young people.

MRI: Unilateral hearing loss with vertigo that hasn't resolved after a month of corticosteroids requires an MRI of the brain to rule out a structural lesion.

hello doctor mandel! a month ago i suffered from acute labyrinthitis with veritigo and vomiting, hearing loss on my left ear. now i still have noise in my left ear and sometimes steadless. what you can recommend as treatment? thank you ver much!!!

Avoid operating: machinery and rest. Doing valsalva will help.  It may take another few days and all your symptoms will go away.

Antibiotics: Amoxicillin is still recommended as the first line antibiotic. There are others for treatment failure or patients with allergies. Also pain control.  In older patients, pain control alone maybe tried for 3 days with antibiotics prescribed if the infection does not resolve on its own.

i had a severe vertigo attack about 4 months ago (while flying) which was the result of labyrinthitis. i am now in therapy and it is helping with the imbalance but i suffer now from constant swimming in my head. could this be a result of veritgo?

: Often full recovery may take a few months, and this event may have left you with some otolithic dysfunction.  Alternatively, this may have been the initial onset of Meniere's disease.  A videonystagmogram will help objectify the symptoms.  Vestibular rehab measures should continue.

can depersonalization  cause anger and last all day? i've had it most of the day since physical therapy for compensation of labyrinthitis. is this really anxiety? i feel like i'm going nuts.

PT and depersonlized: Would go to ER for  possible CT scan/MRI. it is my understanding in PT for labrynthritis. they rotate the head especially in Epley's maneuver which may  be irritating if not done properly, or if you bend your head  or flex within the 48 hours after the maneuver. Alternatively the process that caused the labrythtritis may be recurring. Check for carotid issues. Go to ER

No - See a Doctor: No, you need Flagel Pills for the most effective treatment.  See your Doctor or the Health Department - you should have a full STD screening if you have been exposed to any STD.

Gardnerella: No, there is no effective otc treatment for gardnerella. Also, your sexual partner needs to be treated. Otherwise, you will get a ping pong reinfection.

Trichy? or itchy?: When I 1st read your question, I thought you were looking for OTC non-prescription treatment for itch, in which case there are plenty of antihistamines available. But if you're looking for treatment for trichomoniasis, which is an infection, there are no OTC antibiotics, at least not in States, so you'll need to see your Family Doc or STD clinic. Yes: There are plenty of over the counter antifungals for vaginosis. However, not all cases are due to fungi so an evaluation by a physician should be entertained when you have tried over the counters and your symptoms continue. And, if you are pregnant or diabetic, it's straight to the doc! don't mess around.
