Ovarian Pain: Ovulation pain is for 1-2 days mid cycle.  A pain from a cyst would occur after ovulation in the 2nd half of your cycle and persist for several days  pelvic pain should be further evaluated by your physician.

pelvic pain on the right side and can feel it in right groin too. im 14 days away from my period. is this likely ovulation pain or a ovarian cyst? it is not constant pain. its mild. i had a ovarian cyst in the past but usually hadmore severe pain.

Ovarian cyst pain ? : Although ovarian cysts can cause pain, depending on the size the cyst reaches prior to rupture, with regular periods and the pain occurring "14 days prior" to an expected period, the pain is probably due to ovulation. If the pain persists, see your gyn physician for an exam and testing. Ask your physician about low dose oral bcp's, and ovarian hormone and cyst production will stop.

Could be cyst,,,: This could be a cyst or possibly an adhesion in the abdominal cavity from possible past episodes of bleeding with ovulation.  There might be a cyst there and it could be hemorrhagic which would also cause pain.  Endometriosis can cause pain in your cycle.  If it's really bad it'd be best to see your doctor for at least a pelvic exam and other tests to find out the cause.  Best of luck.

Usually just : a few hours. If longer, possible hemorrhagic ovulatory cyst, or endometriosis , for example. If pain is lasting you need an exam with your doctor to be sure.

Pain: Middlesmertz is pain at mid cycle. It is common, but should not be intense or worsening. If these symptoms are new it is a sign that your ovary is larger is producing symptoms. I would say that the symptoms would be worth having your OB provider take a look at.

Cysts are common: Some women consistently feel pain when they ovulate.  Anytime you ovulate there is the possibility of forming a cyst.  A 3cm cyst is really not concerning as long as it is "simple" meaning only fluid inside.  They will just need to watch it over time to see if it gets bigger.  A complex cyst (one that has structures inside), is more concerning and definitely needs to be followed by your doctor.

Ovarian cyst: A cyst (follicle) ruptures each month as you ovulate.  Sometimes, the follicle (cyst) that contains the egg that you should ovulate grows bigger and the egg inside stops developing.  The cyst may rupture and cause pain or discomfort. If not, you may miss your cycle. 
As you get older, the changes in your cycle may increase then become more irregular.

Maybe, maybe not: Having an ovarian cyst does not necessarily indicate which ovary you will ovulate from. Many kinds of cysts will not impact ovulation, and so the only way to know which one you ovulate from will be another ultrasound shortly before or at the time of ovulation next cycle.
