i have heel pain and foot pain on the outside of foot immediately in front of the heel.  it seems to get aggravated after running or being on my feet.

A lot there.: It sounds as though you are speaking of the area around the base of the fifth metatarsal, cuboid, calcaneus junction. A lot can be going on there including but not limited to inflamed fascia, tendon, an accessory bone or even a stress fracture. You best bet is to see a specialist for an evaluation to sort out all the possibilities.

Rest: Consider rice!.  Rest, ice, compression and elevation.  Also add an otc NSAID such as advil (ibuprofen).  See a podiatrist if the pain persists.

Sounds like: Plantar fascitiis. Plantar fascitiis is a broad banded ligament that runs from the heel up to the toe region and helps support the arch...You likely irritated it. Try wearing arch supports/orthotics. Ice the arch and perfom achilles tendon stretches. An antiinflammatory is a good idea as well. I.E Motrin or alleve. (stop running for a few days if possible to allow the tissue to rest.).

Plantar fasciitis: You may have plantar fasciitis based on the presentation. Usually, pain is located in the heel, usually, where the heel and the arch merge. First thing in the morning when you step on you foot is very painful and a few steps after that. It may hurt throughout the day as well. See podiatrist. Read about plantar fasciitis and see if symptoms fit. Inserts will help, exercises are helpful.

Stop Running: With any strain or injury, it's very important to rest the affected foot. There may be a tendon or ligament injury and with further running it could worsen. Have a specialist examine it if you have no improvement!

Maybe: If pain or swelling continues the foot should be x-rayed. If it only hurts when you run or right after you run it may be a shoe or mechanical problem.

While : While it's entirely possible to develop plantar fasciitis from an injury, by far, the most common presentation with plantar fasciitis is the slow, gradual onset of pain with no associated trauma.  Pain is commonly described as heel pain, worse especially after rest.

If you injured your foot back in july and you're still having pain, there is a fair chance you may have broken a bone or tore a ligament.  I would therefore say yes, by all means, go get this checked out.  I only hope that you haven't waited too long, because if it's been fractured or a ligament torn for all this time and you've been walking on it, the odds of a complete recovery at this point is severely compromised.

Please go to either a podiatrist or foot& ankle orthopedist and get checked out.

i am experiencing pain in ball of foot, foot pain, and excessive running. i am not experiencing big toe pain, numbness or tingling.

the pain starts while i am running a race and it becomes difficult to step.

Podiatrist: Consult a podiatrist for diagnosis and treatment. I assume your footwear and running technique is not the problem. Possibilities include tendinitis, stress fracture, fasciitis or arch problems requiring orthotics.
