: Self transfer of HSV from one part of the body to another is rare, and only occurs during the initial infection with herpes. Since you have longstanding recurrent oral herpes, your immune system prevents you from infecting your penis or anywhere else. Don't worry about it. Your oral herpes will remain only in your mouth area and never show up anywhere else.

Yes, partly depends: This is a good question. The strongest form of lemon balm is the essential oil- authorities say it is OK to apply even that directly onto lesions, but it would be wise to dilute it 1 part to 5-10 parts in olive or coconut oil. HSV-1 contamination?: I have not heard of this being a trigger. However, if you used lip balm that was previously used by someone with a cold sore - you could become infected with the herpes simplex virus type 1 (if not previously exposed).

Oral: I  believe that oral antivirals are recommended (vice topical). Melissa officinalis or lemon balm (cream) expedites healing of cold sores. It can reduce healing time by half. Studies also show that regular use can help v recurrences.  Brief supplementation with lysine 1, 000mg orally three times a day at the onset, can also hasten healing. Your physician can prescribe oral valtrex (valacyclovir).

: The recommended and most effective treatment for recurrent oral herpes (cold sore) is 2 grams of valacyclovir (four 500 mg tablets) twice, about 12 hours apart. Additional treatment beyond that has absolutely no effect in speeding healing. Lysine ointment has no effect at all. Good luck. (I don't know what you mean by "both 86 and 87"??)
