Hardware removal: The answer totally depends on where the pin/plate is and what structure it is supporting.  Most orthopedic implants are made to stay in the human body and are not routinely removed.

Orthodontia: This appliance is to move the lower jaw forward. CAn have surgery which is much more painful and more expensive. See your dentist for further advice and sound advice in this regard.

Doubtful: Have your child checked by an orthopedist to see if he has scoliosis. He may need a brace rather than a chair.

Usually not treated: Osteochondromas are benign growths near a bone's growth plate. They can actively grow while you are growing, and stop when your bones stop growing. If large enough they can rub on muscles and/or tendons, or be prominent. If they cause discomfort, they can be removed.

You can expect a discussion about you problem, physical examination and diagnosis of your problem discussion about tests and treatment options including surgery or other treatment like medication excercises or physical therapy. It goes quickly: Seeing an orthopaedic surgeon is not much different than seeing other physicians. You'll check in with the receptionist and be put in a room by an assistant.  They will ask you why you are seeing the doctor. The doctor will ask some of the same questions and examine you. You may get  x-rays, medicine, therapy or injections. Don't leave without a diagnosis, follow-up and all of your ?'s answered.
