Femur Fracture: I am sorry to hear that you broke your femur. The main concern at this point  is an infection if the wounds are draining pus. You should followup with the Orthopaedic surgeon who placed the rod as soon as possible. This is not something that you should sit on and wait to see if it gets better. Make an appointment and be seen sooner than later.

This is dependent upon the patient being stable enough to withstand surgery and the ability of the surgical team to be able to gain stabilization of the fracture (may be affected by previous hardware, bone quality, deformity, patient reliability, limb control and other factors.

no new bone growth. what's next?

: Assume you had bone around fracture that has not United by this description, and were placed on calcium, vit D mixture . There are implantable bone stimulators to consider, but please see a an endocrinologist to determine if you need bone stimulating hormones or treatment for osteoporosis. Good luck
