i take 0.25mg a day of xanax. how do i get off them without the risk of seizures?  i was told by my doctor at such low doses there will be no problem and no wdrawal symtoms. i now read online that is false. rehab is not an option in my position..

: You go in for an evaluation, express your concerns and what you feel may help (if used in the past) and the doc will decide if it would be appropriate. As a schedule 4 controlled drug, the doc must have a special permit to prescribe it and must document the reasons for its use in a permanent record. Failure to do so can result in loss of the permit.

Work with doctor: If your husband's doctor has determined that he no longer needs the xanax, (alprazolam) then work with him or her to develop a very slow and gradual tapering schedule.  Because of  xanax's potency, this may take longer than expected.  Sure, you can be around your husband - and your presence might help & support him.  If you're concerned for some other reason, please tell the doctor also.

Prescribing doctor?: If you have been taking that much xanax (alprazolam), (alprazolam) someone has supplied you with it -- either legally through prescription or illegally otherwise.  At that dose you could have some withdrawal symptoms.  So, i suggest you do see a physician to help you taper off the medication. It's best to establish a relationship so you can be followed over time for both the xanax (alprazolam) issues, and the reasons you're taking it.

i am studying to become a nurse. my doc just perscribed me xanax (alprazolam) er 1mg to take. will i still be allowed to become a nurse if i'm taking xanax (alprazolam)?

Discrimination: Educational institutions are not supposed to discriminate against individuals who have mental health difficulties. Where this often becomes a grey area is if a student presents as harmful to themselves or others. On another note, Xanax (alprazolam) is not an ideal daily tx intervention for anxiety. Please consider consulting with a psychiatrist for better options.

i usually take ativan prn (need basis) but my doc wants to swtich me to xanax (alprazolam) prn is 24 hours in between taking an ativan and taking a xanax (alprazolam) ok?

It takes 3- 4 days: for the ativan (lorazepam) totally eliminated from your system because the half life of ativan (lorazepam) is 12-16 hours.
