Tongue: Possible local trauma from bite or teeth rubbing on tongue. Best to have it looked at by your pcp.

Good 1st step: Tongue swelling can be due to many reasons but when it doubt taking benadryl (diphenhydramine) is good first choice if no medical reasons to avoid antihistamines. If this has been ongoing for awhile there may be a blockage at the salivary glands or even the veins that drain that side of the tongue. This should be seen by MD very soon to help determine what the cause if. If problems breathing or rapid swelling - ER!

Swollen tongue: Impossible to say without an examination. A swollen tongue can occur due to injury, different diseases, or tumors.
See your dentist, an oral surgeon, or an ENT doctor.

Good idea.: It may be nothing but a blocked salivary gland. Stop any drying medications you may be taking like decongestants (sudafed, afrin, (oxymetazoline) etc).  Drink more fluids (without caffeine or calories), suck on lemon drops to make more saliva and keep your appointment.

can you tell me if a lot of my tastes buds are red and swollen, and a have a few painful white ones on the sides and on topp of my tongue. how can i get it to go away?

Hard to tell: Without seeing you it is hard to tell what is normal and what is pathological.  I would suggest having a dentist look at you to give you a diagnosis.  I have had many patients look at their tongue and tell me they have a problem and when i look at their tongue it looks normal...  The pain could be a neurological condition...

Swollen tongue : This should be evaluated by a dentist or oral surgeon  to find out what is going on.

TEE: It is normal to have some mild throat irritation after such a procedure. If it persists or worsens you should be evaluated by your doc.

swollen axillary nodes, ulcer on the side and hairy tongue, no fever, no pain. 8 years hiv possible exposure, and just had 4 oraquick check all negative and one 4th gen test in lab non reactive. should i do hiv rna test too. can antibody disappear?

i have a horrible sore throat. my tonsils are swollen and there is a white spot in the back of my throat. i also have ear pain on one side. my tongue has bumps in the back and looks grayish. could this be strep? my neck is also sore.

Strep throat : If you're not feeling better after three to four days then get tested for strep. Very hard to know by just looking

Salivary stone?: If the swelling is actually under the tongue on that side she may have a large sublingual salivary stone that is blocking a duct. This can be confirmed with an x-ray of the area. See your dentist to have that condition diagnosed.
