one of my nostrils always looks swollen in the back. when i get sick it gets completely blocked and the other one never does. why is this?

A bit unusual: Generally, nasal swelling will switch sides so that one side is more congested, but the side that is more congested alters.  If congestion is due to local infection (sinus infection for example), then the swelling may remain unilateral. There may be a polyp on the one side, which may be visible on exam or by ct scan.  more background information would be helpful.

ones side of nostril is swollen! it been going on for about 1 yr now! it doesn't hurt or anything. i feel like blood is rushing in my nose. ?

Deviated septum or: It is likely that you have a deviated septum causing the one side of your nose to feel congested/swollen. It is also possible to have a  polyp or a mucoid cyst in the nasal cavity causing your symptoms as well. Either one, it is quite easy to diagnosis and so i would recommend seeing your doc. If appropriate, you will likely be referred to an ear-nose-throat physician for further care. Good luck.

Sounds like an: abscess.  Infection in nose can be serious because it can spread to brain.  You should see your doctor asap.

Go to emergency dept: That is too long to still be bleeding!  Please take your child to the emergency department for evaluation.  Obviously it is not a simple scratch.

i ve been sneezing and have had a stuffy nose but i took some clarinex (desloratadine) d and i'm clear but the inside of one of my nostrils has a red swollen bump almost touching the other side. it does not hurt.

Carbuncle?: Sometimes nasal hair cells get infected but they are usually tender. Also redness can occur if you wipe your nose too much. Try some warm compresses to the areai am not a big fan of Claritin d because i prefer my decongestents give to the site of the problem (nose)rather than systemically where they can cause palpations.

the ball of septum piercing jewelry is irritating inside of my nose; red/sore one nostril swollen. 5 day old piercing. what can i do to calm it?

Best cure is removal: of piercing.   Infections on nose can be dangerous because it can spread to brain.  Antibiotics might control infection, but you would be taking an unnecessary risk.  Consult a doctor immediately.

See a dentist : It is not easy to diagnose without a clinical exam but what your describing can be a severe dental infection that has reached the floor of your nose.  See a dentist immediately.

it hurts when i swallow, back of throat feels swollen, one nostril hurts when i breathe & i've got a headache. this all came out of the blue. help?!

It sounds like a : Viral infection. Try otc cold/cough meds and vitamin c .Drink lots of liquid and gargle with warm salt water or listerine. Go see your dr if u get worse!

Possibly an infection.: If it's swollen and it hurts it is most likely a staph infection of the hair follicles inside your nostril. If there is no pain then it may be a benign cyst or some other process. An ENT doctor should be able to easily look inside your nose and tell.
