my doc says cos i'm allergic to ondansetron that i'm also allergic to antihistamines, what can i use for gritty itchy eyes due to spring allergies?

Huh?: Ondansetron allergy is very uncommon.  I am no allergist, but there is no apparent overlap between the antihistamine H1 and H2 receptor and the antiemetic HT3 receptor that I am aware of.  In addition, antihistamines have been used as part of the treatment of ondansteron allergy. I suggest you clear this up with your doc.

can i take zofran for nausea if i use vistaril  for allergies?

Combo effects : These two drugs when taken together can affect the electrical portion of the heart. I can cause a potentially dangerous arrhythmia. You may need an EKG to monitor the effects on the heart.

can children take motric and zofran (ondansetron) together?

Accepted Answer

Motrin?  Yes, maybe: Zofran prevents vomiting, and Motrin treats fever and pain, so technically they can be taken together.  However, Motrin can irritate an already sensitive stomach, so i personally would use tylenol (acetaminophen) in a patient who needs zofran.

No: To my knowledge, ondansetron doesn't show up as any form of any kind of drug that would be tested for on a drug screen.  Even if it did, it's only used for nausea/vomiting, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Careful...: Be sure your butterbur prep is free of liver toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (common contaminants) which increase interaction with drugs like zofran (ondansetron) ( cytochrome p450 metabolizers). Drug interaction present. Doubt serious issue for you. Check with your prescription writing doc- neurologist or primary doc.

i had a burger earlier and now i feel sick. i'm worried about food poisoning. should i take zofran (ondansetron)?

Sure. U can try this: If no improvement  or you have diarrhea, fever and or severe abdominal pain, then you will need to be seen to R/o E.coli infection. If your symptoms get better with zofran, (ondansetron) but have recurrent attacks with greasy meals, then you need to have work up done to R/ o gall bladder disease. Will need gall bladder US and or HIDA scan with CCK.

if zofran (ondansetron) caused qtc prolongation, would qt int. go back to normal after stopping the medication? or is this a permanent change?

BACK TO NORMAL: Ondansetron (Zofran) primarily blocks potassium channels, prolonging the QT interval, but these changes are acute, transient and reversible. Concern was for IV formulation in doses higher than 16 mg.

i've been taking ondansetron since 12/7 for nausea. i'm now healthy & can't eat or drink without taking 8mg a day.what causes it & what do i do?
