Yes: Omnicef (cefdinir) is in a group of antibiotics called cephalosporin's. Amoxicillin is in the penicillin group. While there is some cross allergies to the 2, they are separate chemicals.

Uti's: Recurrent uti can occur after vaginal intercourse,taking baths instead of showers,wearing very tight jeans,or from structural anatomic abnormalities of the urinary tract. A Urologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat you. If bronchitis is not improving a course of appropriate antibiotics should help.

i was told i have diverticulitis. its being treated with cefdinir due to allergies to other drugs. will cefdinir help any? how long should i notice improvement? :) i been having bouts of consipation and narrow like stool. thank you?

: Constipation and narrow-like stool are not the typical symptoms of diverticulitis. Nowadays, most mild to moderate cases of diverticulitis are self limited, no need for antibiotic therapy and cefdinir is not often used for treating diverticulitis. Good luck.

Take it now: There is no reason or need to wait until finishing the antibiotic. Take the fluconazole (Diflucan®)) now. You can always take the second dose later if the yeast symptoms don't clear up completely or return.

Colored tongue: Impossible to answer without complete history. Discoloration of the tongue can be from many causes-often the color of a liquid or food. It is often caused by yeast also. When some one is on antibiotics the oral flora changes - bacteria is less, yeast increase; bacteria can also cause color changes. Some diseases, variants may cause changes. See a specialist in oral disease-trained in oral medicine.

i have a hard mass along the inside of my leg. i've been on omnicef (cefdinir)  for a possible abscess, didn't work. i'm lost. ?

NEEDS  I&D of abcess: A 'painful mass' is a sign of an abcess and the best treatment is 'incision & drainage' (I&D) of the infected material. Please get seen for this procedure. Antibiotics usually can not cure a large abcess, sorry.  Hope you are better soon!

Antibiotic: Treats certain types of skin infections, throat infections, and lung infections, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, or tonsillitis. Also treats ear infections in children 6 months of age and older.

what happens if one possibly took 2 omnicefs (cefdinir)?

Accepted Answer

You should be ok: You should not notice any adverse effects.  Cefdinir is usually prescribed in 300mg tabs twice a day but can also be taken as 600mg once daily.  Even a one time dose of two 600mg pills shouldn`t cause any problems.
