Oils: Most oils are a problem because of the risk of aspiration or getting into the lungs. Generally increasing her free fluid or using baby strength apple juice would be 1 way to help the problem. You may need to use pediatric glycerin suppositories for 2-3 days to help her pass the hard stool already there. All the best and see your MD if the problem persists.

i've had lots of gas with very oily stool with black spots in liquid alongside it; looks akin to vinegar in olive oil. stool itself is brown/just oily?

Funny stools: Anything that can cause fat to not be digested, absorbed or processed correctly. Pancreas or gallbladder problems, celiac disease, cystic fibrosis, hepatitis chronic, cholestasis.

why is my stool smell leaking out? it comes out suddenly and makes me embarassed. whatever i eat, i face the same situation. i tried olive oil, mint oil, charcoal and many home remedies. they didn't work please help me in identifying my problem?

: There are many possibilities but the most probable is likely something you are eating as part of your diet that is giving you excess gas. There are over the counter medicines that can reduce gas, like Gas-X for example. You may have lactose-intolerance as a possibility and this can be treated with meds. You could also see a GI doctor for treatment after a diagnosis is made. Good luck!

i have had clay stools for about 5mth now have had tests ran. us showed i had a bile duct that was at 11 mm so they did an mrcp and said mass is benig.today my dung turned like olive oil. any advice?

: If you have significant discomfort with bowel movement, only liquid coming out, you may have fecal impaction. You may need to go to urgent care or ER for manual disimpaction.

Not gallstones: The combination of olive oil, lemon juice, and digestive enzymes in our gut creates "soap stones"; these are not gallstones. There is medication, however, that can sometimes dissolve stones.However, it is an ineffective alternative to surgery--the gb is a "gallstone factory"--new stones will form within a few years. Lastly, a polyp can be pre-malignant: if &gt; 1 cm, the gallbladder should be removed.

Yes, but lower dose: Docusate (doss) is safe for children and it has pediatric dosing tables; do not give a child an adult dose. I would check the medication insert or online at doss's site for this to most accurately dose for pediatrics. Otherwise, it is safe for use in children and I have given my daughter pediatric docusate before. I hope this helps!
