i have suffering from acne on my skin due to seborrhea dermatitis oily skin, now i thinking to take doxycycline 50mg. what u suggest?

Do you have both?: Heads up. It's common to have both of these; I did most of my teens and young adult life. For seborrhea, ketoconazole shampoo is helpful and there are a variety of others; just avoid steroids. Never use an antibiotic like doxyxycline as sole Rx for acne, but it may be very helpful in combination with topical benzoyl peroxide and/or retinoic acid. The Rx's you're using now are less helpful for this

hi, i have got an oily skin and i can't get off the black heads from my nose. is there anyway i can reduce the oilyness and the blackheads? thanks

Blackheads: Don't scrub! It just injures the skin and increases the risk of infection.   Your hormones are to blame for the only skin and I don't think you want to attempt changing that.  A salicylic gel or base is probably the most helpful but apply sparingly at night,  starting with a couple of times per week,  increasing nightly.   Use a very gentle cleanser specifically for the face (not for oily skin).

For acne yes: Yes vibrancyin is good treatment for acne as well as other skin infections. Be careful with exposure to sun as this can cause you to be more prone to sunburn.

i dropped my doxycycline pills for my skin on the floor & i washed them off..now they smell & are stuck together.. is it still okay to take them?

Yes: Next time just put them back in the bottle. Do not wash or clean them. Ask DR or pharmacist for replacement. This was once a low-cost med costing $40 for a bottle of 500 pills. Now that bottle costs $2000!!! Do you have pills or capsules? Typical dose for acne is 20 to 50mg a day. For adult female, spironolactone usually works better.

What for?: Not knowing why you are taking  the drug, i cannot say.  If for acne, switching to another drug will help, periodically. One side effect of doxycycline: can cause a photsensitivity for some in the summer because of uv. Otherwise ask again, specifying why you are taking it!

Yes: this is quite a common combination for acne treatment.  There are many regimens available, if this one doesn't work for you, others likely will.  Give it at least several weeks to see full effect.  Good luck

It is...: not available in topical form. Also, I would stay away from putting the powder in my face because it may irritate the skin and cause blemishes amongst other side effects.

Read the bottle: directions should be clear on the pharmacy bottle.  usually until the bottle is gone or until your next appointment.  Make sure to check for refills.
If you remain stumped give the pharmacy or office a call so you can get an explanation

It can recur: Make sure you are improving your diet.  Decrease sugary foods.  Take Probiotics everyday.  Take Zinc 50mg a day after a meal as well as vitamin D and vitamin C to improve your immunity and to decrease the chance of recurrence.

i am about to start taking doxycycline for one week to treat a small outbreak on my skin - how long after taking it do i have to wait to get pregnant?

Accepted Answer

When finished : You are only taking one week of Doxycycline so even if you got pregnant the first day of taking it the baby would not be formed beyond a few cells. No need to delay.
