Go to ER: The symptoms you are describing could mean anything from a simple viral associated headache or an atypical migraine to something more serious such as meningitis or a leaking aneurysm. In short it needs an examination by a doctor immediately to rule out anything more sinister.

Headache: Your pain may be due to a sinus infection as well as muscular because of your sore neck.Try ibuprofen-sinus for relief.

Sounds Viral: Do you have a fever??  Drink plenty of fluids, take TYLENOL (acetaminophen) for pain (Directions on bottle) Keep your dishes separate and stay at home/rest!! Wash your hands frequently and if you sneeze or cough keep your elbow over your nose..mouth
Finally when you are better, GET A FLU SHOT!

bit by a tick on back of head a week ago, no rash, sore neck, swollen lymph nodes, flu like symptoms, soreness only getting worse. should i go to er?

Primary Dr can check: On the west coast, the western black-legged tick can bite humans, and can cause lyme disease, after feeding for 24-48 hours. A lab can test such a tick for lyme disease bacteria. The doctor may treat with antibiotics if the lab finds lyme bacteria, if the bite site has a bull's-eye rash, or if there are other worries... Such as a lot of irritation and maybe a skin infection at the bite site.

can a lipoma(?) at base of skull cause headaches and neck ache? dr says its nothing but it really aches inc. back of head. scalp sometimes feels sensitive/painful to touch. could a ultrasound give any answers?

: Would be unlikely and if a lipoma ultrasound would not tell much.  If it really bothers you it can be removed relatively easily by a surgeon.

Depends: on if they are effective. TENS machine have less adverse effects and when effective are relatively safe when used as instructed

Don't know the: cause of your pain. Have you only had the pain when you have slept in another bed?  Medical evaluation is the best way to figure this one out.

Pain: Depending on your age it may  be degeneration in your cervical vertebrae. I would see your physician for a defiative diagnosis

Not likely: Shingles is usually not recurrent and affects the area supplied by only one spinal nerve root. Therefore the gluteal lesions and neck are not related. Please consult and infectious disease specialist for proper diagnosis and care. You may wish to get consultation with a pain specialist as well to forestall the chronic that can some times result form shingles.
