Get Med-check: She should visit a medical doctor for further testing.
A heart examination by the doctor and an EKG can check the heart rhythm.
There is also a 24 hour monitoring device(Holter) which is often used to capture the heart irregularity.
I would not delay her medical check up as there is risk of blood clots if she has a condition called Atrial Fibrillation which occurs in older(60-65 yrs)patients commo

No: Other things cause increase in heart rate. obesity alone does not. food that contain caffeine, diet supplements, stress, anxiety all can cause increase in heart rate. hormonal imbalance can also be a cause.

i'm tachycardic. resting rate goes from 75 to 120-130 upon standing. i do have high blood pressure & i am obese. how to permanently fix tachycardia? stress test 2-3 wks ago and passed just fine. what other tests may i need? what could be the cause?

BP and HR: There could be a variety of reasons for having high blood pressure with high heart rate. Please kindly see your doctor to discuss , evaluate with blood tests and imaging studies as indicated to get to the right diagnoses. There are medicines that can lower blood pressure and heart rate.

Sleep Apnea possible: If you snore at night and feel sleepy with obesity you can have Obstructive sleep Apnea and that can cause concentration and memory problems and even cause shortness of breath. See a sleep specialist.

: Any herbal supplements or decongestants?  Major stress?  Those can raise BP &amp; heart rate. If not &amp; it has been a few weeks I recommend evaluation by Dr &amp; possibly tests for hyperthyroidism, heart rhythm problem, or a few other things

Possible: There are numerous examples of medications which cause side effects that we know are precipitated by the drug and yet when we stop the medication side effects do not go away. Therefore, i believe it's possible that chronic use of stimulant drugs such as Ritalin (methylphenidate) can cause the pacemaker in the heart to reset. All the same, get a full cardiac ; physical eval before settling on this conclusion.

been logging my bp a few times a day. current taking 25mg of metoprolol. is it normal for bp to fluctuate from 101/69 to 117/75 and back again over the course of 3 min? will 25mg of metoprolol cause the bp to go lower. i take it for tachycardia?

: Yes, it does have hypotensive effect at that dose, especially if it effectively lowers your heart rate. Please note that cardiac output (heart rate x stroke volume) and vascular resistance are the 2 main parameters for determining blood pressure and metoprolol, a beta blocker, affects both parameters. Blood pressure varies a lot when repeatedly checked and your 2 numbers seem fine. Take care.
