Accepted Answer

Depends: It depends on how resistant is defined. Different studies use different definitions. In my experience, true resistance is rare and usually due to inadvertant use of otc meds that antagonize the antihypertenisives, artifactual HTN due to the "white coat" effect, suboptimal regimens, etc. Renal denervation is a new procdure that is gaining popularity and is not a miracle but can help selected people.

Llisinopril?: hello~ NO it does not GIVE you renal failure. We use it in hypertension and in diabetics because it INCREASES pre-renal blood flow and protects AGAINST renal failure. BUT ~ if you HAVE some renal failure, the mechanism of it's action means you have to use it with care and not at all in frank renal failure. The most important issue being its POTASSIUM (K+) sparing qualities. thanks

: This problem is most likely persistent if confirmed by Doppler and CTA. 
If you meant secondary or accelerated hypertension or worse kidney function as the symptom, it should be fixed with percutaneous angioplasty with or without stent. Surgical repair is also an option but it is more invasive.

hello, had a kidney ultrasound that read kidneys were somewhat echogenic suggesting chronic renal disease. all other kidney function on bloodwork was normal, no protein in urine, and a history of hypertension. can this be resolved with bp medication?

: This comment about echogenicity does not mean your kidneys are diseased.
As long as your blood creatinine is less than 1.4mg, your kidney are functioning fine.
HBP should be kept under good control although I doubt if your high BP has anything to do with the findings stated on the ultrasound report. Right now I would ignore this comment and not worry about it.

Dialysis: If the  medication is eliminated by a normally functioning kidney, it can accumulate to dangerous levels in between dialysis treatments.  Its best to check with your nephrologist (kidney doctor) before starting a new medication.

Nephrocalcinosis: Technical term for thus condition is Nephrocalcinosis. There are several conditions possible. Most of the time needs follow up by kidney specialist and may not cause any long term damage to kidney. Best to see a kidney specialist.

For what?: It's not clear to me what medication you're asking about. An immunosuppressant because of your kidney transplant? Or something for pain control? If latter, minimize use of nsaids like Ibuprofen given their risk to harm kidneys etc. In this case, consider Acetaminophen (paracetamol in india ; elsewhere), tramadol ; other opioids. Discuss your concerns w/your family doc ; nephrologist.

Safe painkiller: Codeine, tramadol, oxycontin, morphine sulfate.

Accepted Answer

Depends on cause: of her anemia.  She could have nutritional deficit other than iron deficiency, also occult bleeding, also hemolysis.  Even if she really does have iron deficiency anemia alone, she could have absorption problems.  Assuming everything else is negative, you can try ferrous sulfate or ferrous gluconate.  But get her to a doctor first before you try.

Unfortunately, not: Hi. No, unfortunately there is not a medicine to dissolve kidney stones. They usually either pass on their own, are broken up with lithotripsy and passed, or taken out manually by a urologist. If you are a repeat stoner, you should be worked up to see if there is a treatable condition leading to your stone formation. They're miserable; prevent making more if you can! Good luck!
