Need more informatio: Turning purple maybe acrocyanosis. This can be normal and physiologic. The swelling may be vascular but we need more information

Depends on reason: Numbness in fingers and toes can have a number of reasons to occur, and the first step in treating it is to find out what is causing it to treat the underlying condition.  Diabetes, anxiety/hyperventilation, autoimmune disease; the list of possible causes is fairly long.  This warrants a full evaluation in clinic.

Possible nerve prob: Pain and numbness in fingers can be caused by nerve irritation/damage that can start in your spinal cord or further down- special test called nerve conduction can be done to evaluate.  There are many other causes that include certain infections, vitamin deficiencies,  thyroid disease etc.  Also, poor circulation or a vascular condition called raynauds phenomenon can be source. Go see doctor.

Muscular, carpal tun: This may be a significant muscular problem related to your neck position during sleep.  Experiment with pillow. Could also be a bit of irritation of nerves in the neck without true hnp.  Also, carpal tunnel synd often causes upper extremity pain and tingling/numbness at night. Try a Velcro wrist brace when you sleep

Might be neck relate: Many possibilties here. Most likely cervical spine disease with possible nerve impingement causing the numbness. Other possibilities include thyroid disease, possible polymyalgia rheumatica.

Could be: just trapezius muscle spasm due to overstretching during sleep, could be stretching of nerves in brachial plexus that lead to this, could be a disk herniation in the neck that is now compressing nerves and is apparent for the first time. 12 hours is a long time for numbness in the fingers. See your doctor.

See below:: This could be carpal t syndrome plus cubital ts where the other nerve to the hand (ulnar) gets trapped at the elbow; and more rarely ulnar can get trapped at the wrist, on the little finger side.
Also nerves getting pinched in the neck can also cause a similar picture.
