Rapid breathing in and out - ala hyperventilation - could in itself cause paresthesia or numbness of hands, feet, or head. Nicotine does cause vascular constriction so could be responsible as well. Why only the scalp - not certain.

Nevertheless have someone inspect your scalp to check for any sign of scalp inflammation. See your physician as needed.

Call your doc : While this does not sound like an emergency, it should be evaluated. The symptoms are probably caused by more than 1 problem. Back pain is 1 issue. Scalp swelling has me perplexed as it is not clear if you had an allergic response to something, vs pressure in sinuses that feels like you are swollen. Numbness/pressure in the jaw suggests a dental issue such as TMJ. Start by calling your PCP today.

Clarification: Usually the cervical nerves will cause numbness in hands/legs/occassionally headaches/neck pain. If are having facial/scalp tingling it may be some cranial nerves/ else more systemic. If it is troubling you. You should speak to your primary M.D.
