Tell your OB: Please tell your OB physician about this asap.  You need help for your depression, whether or not you decide to keep your baby.  At 5 weeks pregnant you have choices which can be considered.  Also treatment of depression is very possible and essential in pregnancy.  Psychiatrists and OB doctors often work together in such situations -- psychologists also.  Please don't wait to tell your doctor!

First visit: I think you should call the office of the obstetrician right away to schedule your first prenatal visit for approximately 6 weeks as long as you're doing well. Get started on a prenatal vitamin and a good diet.

Pregnant ;scared: This is very normal in a lot of women who find out they are pregnant.  Try to talk to your family, especially your mom and grandma about pregnancy.  Talk to your friens who have had pregnancies.  Join a support group (see webmd) or as your OB about support groups.  Read books.

why am i finding it hard to get pregnant the 2nd time (i've already had one child in the past)?

Age: Partially this is because you are 47 years old.  Fertility drops over time.  You also are at increased risk of bearing a child with chromosomal disorders such as Downs Syndrome, Trisomy 18 and others.   Even a late period at this age could be a baby that was not meant to be.  Gosh, I hate to be such a buzz kill, but I hope this is helpful.

Pregnant: OB MD?: As soon as pregnancy is established, it is good to schedule an appointment with an OB provider, as there are medication issues, general health issues, and protective care recommendations which are important to have available as early as possible.

i've recently discovered that i'm pregnant and am finding it extremely difficult to eat proper meals and it's really getting me down. any advice?

Get to OB's Office: Yes. Without hesitation. If you are pregnant then get to the ob's office for testing, examination, advise. They will  recommend that you get at least one guidebook to pregnancy so you can read along and know the norms of being pregnant. And they will teach you about morning sickness and how to treat it and how important nutrition will be for you and your baby.

i recently found out im pregnant, my first appointment is in 3 days. i am roughly 11-12 weeks along, and im scared because i wasnt taking any prenatals prior to finding out, nor was i eating well. what are the chances my baby will be ok?

: Pretty good. Hundreds of generations were brought into this world before we understood the value of prenatal vitamins and nutrition on pregnancy. Concentrate on what you can do now and don't worry about what you can't change. I'd give a 1/20 chance of an unexpected outcome, but that is the same for all pregnancies today.

Yes, but...: A home urine pregnancy test is easy to do, inexpensive, and sold in many local stores.  It gives a very reliable result if done correctly, about 3 weeks after sex, 1 week after missing a period, or after having a "weird" period.

Medical Care: There is no cook book approach and this question is very difficult to answer.  What your OB does is most likely  appropriate and thorough. If this is your first pregnancy then you will be advised to get a book on pregnancy and/or prenatal care so that you can have a guide to learn what to expect and to learn what is normal for you.  It may be wise to get one of these books soon.
