Pus: Pus is a form of exudate that is seen at the site of inflammation &amp; not usually observed (or even tested for) in a routine urinalysis. You should discuss with your doctor. However, The RBC finding is in the normal range. Hope that helps!

It's not normal: If you have white blood cell in urine you need to do a urine culture and start antibiotics.  Your doctor will choose the right antibiotics according to the culture result. Drink lots of water and cranberry juice.

Contaminated urine: If the urine was collected using good cleaning prior to urination, then it is not normal.  If a woman does not use a good clean catch technique then the urine can be contaminated from surrounding secretions.  There being more epithelial cells than blood cells indicates that this was most likely a contaminated urine specimen.  The urine test should be repeated using good clean catch technique.

WhiteBloodCells, not: &quot;pus&quot; cells. WBCs are the cancer &amp; infection fighting cells of the body, 5 different classes as viewed under a microscope (such as in urine analysis); many more classes by function. Generally, &lt;5 WBC/HFP on UA microscopic examination is considered normal, i.e. usual/common. Low epithelial cells/HFP is c/w clean catch mid-stream sample with little surface skin cell contamination.

Urine culture/STD: Get a repeat urine culture and analysis and STD testing. This sounds like a low grade infection or inflammation and you must be examined.

Not Sure: A urine in a female is difficult to evaluate because of contamination of it by skin and vaginal conditions. You have some epithelial cells which means some contamination but you have significant pus (WBC) cells which indicate infection either from bladder, skin or vagina. With urinary infection you often have urgency, frequency and burning. With vaginal you may have discharge, odor, burn or itch.

See below: White cells in urinalysis (aka pyuria) in a female can be due to a number of factors. May represent contamination of the urine sample from vaginal cells, or; residual, resolving irritation and inflammation from treatment of recent infection, or; infection (new, persistent, or recurrent) involving urinary tract (UTI) or vagina (vaginitis) with or w/o symptoms. Suggest repeat appropriate cultures.

hi i recently took a urine test. results were as follows; s.g. 1.028 ph 5.5 slightly increased urobilinogen amounts, pus cells 4-6/h.p.f. and positive for epithelial cells. everything else was nil and normal. what does this mean? does it mean a uti?

: First was this a clean catch mid stream urine that was tested. If no do one.  Epithelial cells are normal in urine. The come from the bladder and other parts of the urinary track and are shed as they wear out and new ones replace them. Does not mean at UTI.  Only a culture of a clean catch can document that.
