Prostatitis: The prostate volume of 17 ml is completely normal for your age.  I'm more than a little curious how you know your prostate volume so precisely?  A transrectal ultrasound would be the only means of measuring prostate volume. It is generally inappropriate to do a transrectal ultrasound on someone of your age unless an abscess was suspected.

Depends on more info: There is limited information in this question.  I would be interested to know about symptoms and psa numbers in past.  Based just on the information provided, I would recommend a prostate biopsy to rule out prostate cancer.  If the biopsy is negative, you may consider a medication such as finasteride or dutasteride to reduce the size of the prostrate.  Of course, there are side effects with meds.

In other words, an enlarging P doesn't always indicate having trouble to void and a small P doesn't always guarantee on in voiding. In short, how a man voids is dictated by how his urinary sphincteric unit may coordinately relax and open to pee with normal voiding pressure inside bladder. So, ask Doc for reality.

Otherwise,  a volume of 23.6g is not in itself, significant.
