when medical people talk about kidney function, and arteriosclerosis effecting it, what does that actually mean?

Kidney function: The kidneys work by flitering the blood which flows through them. Arteriosclerosis can impede the flow of blood through organs, including the kidneys. When it does impede flow through the kidneys, kidney function suffers.

i need to talk to a kidney dr coz my 4year old child have severe constipation,now i need to know what can i do so she can do number 2 and can constipation affect her kidneys that's both on the left side....?

Accepted Answer

: Have her evaluated by her doc, a developmental pediatrician or Pedi GI. An initial enema wash out may be required to start things along in addition to treatments. Constipated girls can have more UTI's but this is not a kidney doc issue. Proper treatment can take a year to straighten things out.

Go to the ER: It could be a kidney stone or worse, a kidney infection called pyelonephritis. He must be evaluated and treated.

i have a 7mm pulmonary nodule in my left lung and 9 mm hypodensity in my kidney. should i be concerned or even speak to my doctor?

Talk to doctor: How did you find out about the nodule and hypodensity? Did your doctor not review the results of the imaging study with you? Why was imaging done? Please have a discussion with your doctor.

Yes: You do need further evaluation and management. What medication are you taking for the crohns? Is your Crohns well controlled? All the symptoms may be related to Crohns or and medications adverse effects.  Likely may need to see GI specialist

my son is handicapped. he doesn't walk or talk. he has seizures. currently he is taking epidiolex and onfi. he has trouble with kidney stones. he has chronic constipation and takes laxatives. is the covid vaccine safe for him?

: It is far better that he not get COVID-19.  Any one of the 3 USA vaccines should be well tolerated and relatively safe and effective for him.  You do NOT mention any problems which would be contra-indications.

Emergency Room: Blackouts and impaired speech are serious! Get to an ER as soon as you can. The bmp may have nothing to do with it, but pain, loss of consciousness and speech issues need attention now!
