i'm 25 yrs old. after lifting heavy my creatine kinase levels were 1800. when i don't exercise theyre normal. is this ck normal for young adults?

Good for you: From time to time, i've run ck's on classes of students. The bodybuilders, after lifting, can run as high as 3000.

Maybe none: If you exercise, you ck can be very high -- many times the upper limit of normal. The normal range is for couch potatoes. I'm glad you asked, but no lab test means much in isolation. Best to ask your physician and see what matches with your symptoms and lifestyle.

elevated total creatine kinase but normal creatine kinase -mb... does that means the elevation is not coming from the heart??
also... can alcohol abuse lead to elevated total creatine kinase? 
my level was 350?

: It is possible for the measured creatine kinase to come from muscles or the heart; the MB fraction is used to differentiate that coming from the heart and MM for that coming from the muscles. You are right that the MB fraction as well as Troponin helps to determine if there is heart muscle injury and alcohol may contribute because of tendency to injury to muscles and others like nerves and liver.

i (male, 28) have a persistently low creatine kinase level most recently 25 (range 31-290). my ana, sed rate and crp are normal. should i investigate further? i have seen low ck is correlated with connective tissue diseases. i have normal muscle mass

No: Low creatine kinase never means anything unless you are severely sick, and then it correlates only with what's obvious clinically. Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies are arbitrarily outside.

Depends: CPKs are enzymes inside the cell that are release after injury to the membrane cause by trauma,inflammation,ischemia or even excessive exercise.It comes in different isoforms depending on the cells it comes from such as skeletal,heart,liver,brain etc. So it can be chronic as in inflammation of skeletal muscles or transient as in trauma or heart attacks or induce by drugs.

CPK elevation: This is a mild elevation.  This could be caused by either physical exercise, medication or trauma.  Unless the value continues to increase I would not worry.

Muscle breakdown: High CPK levels suggest high levels of muscle turnover, either from intensive exercise or generalized muscle breakdown.  CPK is also broken down into something else called ck-mb; if this is elevated alone with normal cpk, it may suggest a heart attack with appropriate symptoms.

CPK: It depends on the reason why your CPK levels are elevated. I'd be evaluated by you physician to identify the reason as to why they are elevated.
