i'm diagnosed with ocd, complex trauma & some physical ailments. recently i got so stresed & started suffering from twitches, numbness, visual hallucinations, confusion, short term memory loss. brain mri is normal to what these symptoms refer? thanks?

All hand in hand...: Think of your own experience - anxiety: subjective feeling of being overwhelmed when not  in control. We gain control by creating routines/patterns (excess=ocd), but we're also quite stubborn and unwilling to accept redirection if not comfortable for us (excess= odd) - "bad attitude" due to anxiety(?).Tourette's:perceived to be neurologic, but anxiety flares it up - all related brain pathways?

Size is not at issue: Proper functioning is more the issue than size. Some efforts have been explored at retraining this 'anxiety switch'. Psychosurgery is : Only for a small % of people w ocd. Psychosurgery is only for treatment refractory ocd that is severe.  Some surgical options include capsulotomy, limbic leukotomy, anterior cingulotomy, deep brain stimulation ; transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Sorry, no surgery: Sad that you are so desperate about your anxiety. The good news: there are effective psychological treatments that work. What that is depends on what type of anxiety you have. See a therapist who specializes in treating anxiety disorders, especially (for some types of anxiety) exposure based therapy. Medication may also be helpful but avoid addictive tranquilizers. Ssris can be very helpful.

is deep brain stimulation effective at treating severe ocd? does it have high risks associated with it or is it considered pretty safe?

: Although DBS has shown benefits for Parkinson's Disease, it is premature to use this routinely to treat psychiatric diseases.  This is still an area of research.

so if you can somehow stop the compulsion part(telling brain there is no logic in what you are going to do , it is ocd) can u overcome ocd gradually?

Cues, counters: The keys to countering obsessions & compulsions are: developing an awareness of what your cues or triggers are, engaging countering behaviors (e.g., progressive relaxation, challenging automatic thoughts, distraction), & tracking the success of your counters. Medications can be a big support as well. A licensed cognitive-behavioral therapist can help you develop strong skills!

This may be related: To your obsessive compulsive disorder. My patients with ocd have obsessive troubling thoughts (not pleasant thoughts). For instance, i treat a lovely woman in her 70's who has ocd. She is always fearful that she will drive up onto a curb and run some one over with her car.  As a result - she tries not drive ; drives like a mouse when she does. (she had stopped driving when i met her).  Getting.

Efalex: Another otc product designed to relieve your wallet of excessive thickness without necessarily having proven value.  Belief in benefits is often beneficial in and by itself.  Would discuss this with your psychiatrist or clinical psychologist and go from there.  Good luck.

this is a ridiculous question, but if a shirt as been washed and dried more than twice, is it possible for the brain eating amoeba to survive on the shirt? i have ocd so i know its an irrational question?
