Depends: If you are in a cast and the ankle immobilized, flying carries a higher risk of developing a DVT (deep vein thrombosis or blood clot in the leg).  

If you are walking around than it should be fine.  But ideally you should wait until your ankle is not immobilzed.

Depending on injury surgery could be a serious consideration when everything is taken into account. Good luck with your decision. : some swelling is normally expecteed post surgery. But if the symptoms do not get better pl have your surgeon take a look. In the meantime use a heating pad to the area 3-4 times a day and take Ibuprofen. Hope you feel better

Depending on the sepaeration between the two ends of the tendon it could be fixed by immobilization and casting of the leg & foot or surgical repair of the tendon.

Achilles tendon : Sorry to hear about your achilles tendon tear.  Stop smoking if you smoke, don't drink alcohol (it's a toxic), hydrate and use ice around the area because it's probably swollen and bruised.  Eat healthy and keep away from spicy foods that may raise your blood pressure.  Also, shave the area and use aftershave (alcohol based) to clean afterwards if there are hairs in the back of the leg.

Likely Suture Knots: Heavy suture material is used for achilles tendon repairs.  After all swelling goes down over time, sometimes the suture knots become palpable and can goes symptoms.  If suture knots are causing a problem, they can be surgically removed at this stage.
