how do i find what's the big deal with organic and non-gmo foods?

Modern times: Most of my scientist friends tell me that we are able to feed 7 billion people only because today's technologies protect crops from weeds, plant diseases and insects. Whether these technologies are also making is sick is a question you'll need to decide for yourself. Some physicians here believe that they are, but I do not know any colleagues personally who 'eat only organic' or shun GMO's.

Not to worry: Gmo foods simply speed up the process of evolution by gene substitution.  Every product that is gmo raised has been tested and there are no adverse effects to health or nutrition.  Human insulin, grown in bacteria from transfered human genes is essentially gmo and is better than "nautral " Insulin from animals.  There is much hype and little facts from the opposition on this subject.

Normal: Any random non fasting glucose of under 200 mg/dl is considered normal. Fasting blood sugars should be less than 126 mg/dl.

Not much: If you're going to check a glucose, do it fasting or two hours after a meal. Those are the only times that there are standardized normal values. A glucose of 200 or greater at any time is indicative of diabetes.

Mostly theoretical: Genetically modified organisms (gmos) are organisms in which the dna has been modified in a way that does not occur naturally. For this reason, a fasting blood sugar is preferred for determine whether or not someone has diabetes.

Not helpful: You have to wait at least 2 hours following a meal. If i recall, at 2.5 hours your blood sugar was down to 127 mg/dl which is normal. You also had a normal fasting blood sugar and normal hba1c in the recent past. These results are very reassuring. Please discuss with your doctor when you should be reevaluated. Home meters can't make a diagnosis. All results need to be confirmed in a lab.

Baby blood sugar: The non- fasting blood sugars you mentioned seem within normal limits.   I have to think your pediatrician is concerned about something if they have checked your baby's blood sugar 5 times in a short period of time.  If you have not already, I recommend you talk to your pediatrician about their concerns.

While: Cinnamon isn't likely to hurt, it is necessarily going to be a big help.  Your weight is borderline, so why not focus first on optimizing your weight, minimizing stress, optimizing sleep and eating healthy including avoiding processed foods and eating foods that "naturally" account for a wide color palette and mostly vegetables/fruits.
