Depends: Depends on your symptoms. If hilar adenopathy is suspected, a CT scan with contrast is indicated. If CHF is suspected, a BNP (blood sample) would be helpful.  Regardless, an echocardiogram is indicated to evaluate cardiomegaly (an enlarged heart shadow). Other tests may also be necessary depending on the situation.

Follow up with MD: Cxr was used to diagnose both the hilar enlargement and cardiomegaly.
You may need further work up with an echo-cardiogram (for cardiomegaly) and may be a cat scan (for hilar enlargement).
Follow up with your md.
Cardiomegaly on cxr may be inaccurate as the heart looks larger when the xray is not taken with full inspiration.

Mediastinal and: hilar enlargement generally imply enlarged lymph nodes in those regions.  There are numerous causes of enlarged lymph nodes.  You need to talk to your doctor about what it means in your particular case.  The 9mm nodule may or may not be related or significant.

Hilum: The hilum is the area in each lung where the great vessels and the airway meet.  Typically a hilar mass refers to enlarged lymph nodes.  Lymph nodes follow blood vessels.  So where there are blood vessels there are lymph nodes.  A hilar mass can either represent infection, inflammatory area or a malignancy.  Hope this helps.

See below: Hilar adenopathy is a term used by radiologists when describing bulky tissue findings near the blood vessels of the lungs, typically seen on a chest x-ray or chest ct scan.  It implies typically that there are enlarged lymph nodes present.  Like any finding on an imaging study however, it must be interpreted in context of the patient.  You should discuss this with the doctor that ordered the test.

Find the cause: More often than not, nodular regenerative hyperplasia hides some other liver disease -- maybe even damage from an herbal supplement. If a thorough workup is non-revealing, then the treatment is to manage the problems, especially portal hypertension, perhaps with a shunt.

Usually asymptomatic: Focal nodular hyperplasia is a common non-malignant (non-cancerous) liver condition. They are often found incidentally on imaging or during surgery.

Most studies have shown that people with focal nodular hyperplasia usually do not have symptoms. However, a few studies have shown that people with focal nodular hyperplasia can have abdominal discomfort or pain, or have a palpable (able to feel) mas.
