Depends on symptoms: What adds urgency to the situation is uncontrollable pain down the arm(s) or progressive  neurological decline (increasing numbness and/or weakness in arms or legs, or difficulty in controlling bladder).  If you are experiencing any of these, you should see a doctor sooner.

i have a wierd feeling in my thumb and pointing finger. i can move the normally but they feel a little stiff and abnormal. does using my phone cause?

"Repetitive Strain": is a DEFINITE disorder from repeated use of the cell phone in the TEXTING mode!!  Try stopping it for a while see if it helps!

what would cause me to loose feeling in my thumb, index and middle finger on my left hand? i woke up and they were numb this morning and still are.

Nerve issue: This sounds like a nerve issue.  Either it was positional when you or sleeping, and it is likely the same nerve, median, that carpal tunnel can affect, or a nerve from your neck or shoulder coming down.  Typically this does resolve over time.  I would recommend an evaluation if it does not.

hello 2 days ago i fell asleep with a hair tie on my wrist. didn't feel tight. woke up with thumb and index finger numb. i think the circulation was blocked because i still feel a tingily/numb feeling in my thumb. will it heal itself?

: You likely have compressed the median nerve at the wrist, creating an artificial carpal tunnel syndrome.  This should be completely resolved in 3-4 weeks, but avoid ligatures or tight bands around your wrist.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common cause of such numbness due to median nerve compression at the wrist. But dysfunction of a branch of median nerve, not actually in the carpal tunnel can cause symptoms too.

Both Thumbs Stiff: There are 765 known causes of bilateral thumb stiffness, but the top five are bilateral small joint arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, symmetrical arthritis, osteoarthritis, and lupus, without further details, it is very hard to say, but you should definitely want to rule out lupus or another related connective tissue disorder. Does your work/avocation involve repetitive hand movements? Check w/ md.

: If it’s been a month you should see an orthopedic doctor who specializes in hands since you need to be evaluated for a torn ligament.

i cut my thumb deep enough to indent it. i suspect i have severed a nerve. at 16 will i and how long will it take to regain feeling and fill out?

Nerve injury: is usually permanent.  Surgical repair is not possible in a small nerve such as digital nerve.  Deformity would probably improve, but it too can be permanent, depending on severity of it.
