Nickel dermatitis: Nickel allergy is a contact dermatitis and the only prevention is avoidance.  I am not sure why this results in hospitalization. Are they sure nickel sensitization is the only problem?

No!: Augmentin contains Penicillin. So it should be safe although some people develop a skin rash after using Augmentin. So be watchful of any skin rash or hives after you take Augmentin.

Nickel is used for increasing iron absorption, preventing iron-poor blood (anemia), and treating weak bones (osteoporosis).

Patch testing. : A dermatologist or allergist can help you to identify what material is causing the reactions if in fact it is actually due to a contact allergy.   Once identified you will be able to learn what products may contain the causative material and therefore be avoided.

Usually only in very: Trace amounts.  Remember that grains "pick up" many different metals but in trace(exceptionally small) amounts.  The overall trace amount varies depending on the content found in the soil, provided water, and/or fertilizer.

Yes: Nickel and chromium are often mixed with silver to make it more durable and less likely to tarnish.  If you are allergic to nickel, than very likely, "fake silver" jewelry will cause a reaction as it is likely to contain nickel.

Nickel: Unless you find a buckle made of high carat gold, you should always tuck a shirt under your pants to avoid direct skin contact with the buckle
