25 yrs old. new freckles appearing everywhere mostly on face within the last 2 mths. i have went from no freckles to atleast 20 on my face! ???

Increase freckles: The lesions  may be freckles- ephelides or lentigines - which are benign  and may increase with sun exposure. or may be nevi  which need monitoring. Are there any inside your mouth? That may be a sign of Peutz Jaeger syndrome. rarely may be neurofibromas( they are more reddish than brown.  Would follow up with dermatologist for definitive assessment

That's normal: If you tend to be a freckler, you'll get more as you get older or have more sun exposure. Everybody should use sunscreen. Some folks dislike their freckles, but most folks like them on themselves or others. Photo Guy, a professional model, is showing his off. Best wishes.

how fast can a new freckle appear? i was camping with sunscreen, but the area was also dry, chapped and scabbed. freckle? raw skin? how do i know?

Quickly: New freckles can appear within a few hours of sun exposure.  Many people who are freckled will notice an increase in both the darkness and the number of their freckles after they've been out in the sun.  If the area was scabbed, this could be the cause of the hyper pigmentation rather than the sun.  Continue your SPF and if it continues to change or doesn't improve over the next 1-2 wks see a doc.

If your birth mark: has never been checked by a dermatologist and you are getting new or different moles, it is a good idea to have a skin check by a dermatologist. At your age, they will probably find that everything is OK, and recommend that you visit them periodically, but it's best to check.

No: That raised bright red spot with sharp margins likely would have happened anyway &amp; will lead to a freckle. You will probably see others as well. If you still have concerns, send us a picture, or see a clinician locally. Hope that helps.

Not freckles: The pigmented spots on the nipples are probably areolar glands rather than freckles.  If you have developed pigmented spots on the nipple you should see you doctor for an exam to rule out cancer.

Melanocytes: Sun exposure can bring out your freckles by causing melanocytes to produce melanin. Yes, it can be normal.

Scaly itchy lesion: Best to see your doctor as pigmented lesions with itchiness or scaling may need to be biopsied. We obviously get more concerned about lesions which are darker, larger than 6mm in size with irregular borders or having a variegated color but our index for suspicion is high when lesions behave abnormally.

No: Freckles are freckles and are benign, early  skin cancer may appear to be a frickle to an untrained eye, .And a compelling  reason to see your doctor for professional opinion.
