Quickly: New freckles can appear within a few hours of sun exposure. Many people who are freckled will notice an increase in both the darkness and the number of their freckles after they've been out in the sun. If the area was scabbed, this could be the cause of the hyper pigmentation rather than the sun. Continue your SPF and if it continues to change or doesn't improve over the next 1-2 wks see a doc.
