why do i have rashes an bumps after scabies treatment?

Scabies treatment: If your scabies treatment was successful, it may be contact dermatitis from the topical treatment. If you have already cleaned clothes and linens, applied treatment twice one to two weeks apart for the entire family. It probably isn't scabies anymore. Please be seen by your treating physician for an exam.

if post scabies treatment there is one suspicious bump, can i spit treat with permetherin?

Accepted Answer

Best not to: If you still have scabies, i would retreat.  Anyone that shares a bed with you should be treated at the same time.  I treat again in 4 days after the first treatment.  Apply Permethrin from neck to toes and every nook in between.  Wash off in am, wash all clothes in hot water, dry heat.  If persists, need pill called ivermectin.

if i treat myself with ivermectin scabies treatment and wash everything tomorrow such as clothes, sheets...won't i just get reinfected from new mites?

Not necessarily: As long as you have completely treated yourself, your belongings and close contacts, you won't necessarily get reinfected.

Sure: its "OK" however I would go "the whole route" again!
Scabies is a very tough infection to get rid of .... BTW make sure your BEDDING is carefully washed and your mattress treated!

i have new raised bumps thats very close to one another after i've performed permarithin treatment for scabies. am i still infected?

Accepted Answer

It's possible: You could still be infected but you may have some other type of bug bite.  Bed bugs like to bite in groups.  If it's scabies, you may have to do another treatment with permethrin or try ivermectin.  Also make sure your bedding and clothes you recently wore have been washed with hot water.  You can also put your clothes in garbage bags for 24-48 hours (some people even recommend up to a week).

we were treated for scabies 3 days ago ; we've noticed a few new red bumps and burrows since treatment... has treatment failed?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: The symptoms of scabies are due to the body's immune reaction to the mite and its droppings in the skin. They are still there after treatment kills the mites, and symptoms can continue for 2-3 weeks -- in fact they sometimes get worse or new itchy spots appear for a while after treatment. See your doctor if it gets a lot worse or if you're still having itching and rash 3 weeks after treatment.

Scabies: may need to use another dose and try ti figure where you are getting them.  sterilize your house , sheets, pets, etc.  steroid cream will not help.

Accepted Answer

Scabies symptoms: The symptoms of scabies -- itchy red bumps -- are not due to live mites, but the body's allergic reaction to the mites, their egg, etc. It takes a while for these to be absorbed and the immune reaction to stop. Therefore, itching and new bumps commmonly continue for several days after treatment. Hang in there; it will clear up! If it takes more than 10 days or so, contact your doctor.

Reassess diagnosis: Either it's not scabies, or the source is somewhere you haven't accounted for. See your doc to explore other possibilities such as bed bugs, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, syphilis, or many other diagnoses.

how will you look after scabies treatment?

Accepted Answer

The same!: You will probably look about the same as before the treatment, although your skin may feel a little drier.  Redness, flaking and scabbing at the sites of the previous scabies infestation will heal with time.  Moisturizers should help hasten this process.
