: You are  urged to correct the B12 deficiency, decrease the homocysteine (risk of stroke and heart attacks), and address depression.  Your doctor should  be providing B12 injections, and biologically active folate can be supplemented.  In USA, we have medical foods (MetanX and Cerefolin-NAC).  Ask about equivalents in India.

Ask your doctor.: There is no good evidence that vitamin B 12 will help amyloidosis. However, if you have vitamin B 12 deficiency, it may be a good idea. You should not start any new medicine or supplement yourself while you are on chemotherapy and steroids. However, you might want to ask your physician if it would be OK to take it or whether he can check your vitamin B 12 levels. Good luck.

: Pernicious anemia is a possible cause, but at your age it is probably a diet low in dairy, fish and meat. A vegan diet as well as medications for indigestion can cause this problem. Medication will help but a diet that has folic acid in it will solve your problem.

Although the risk to your health would be low, it&#x27;s hard to answer correctly without that info. Why deficient?: Thanks for writing. I trust this is laboratory-proved. You are in danger. If you have become B12 deficient through a vegetarian diet, i hope you'll reconsider this lifestyle, which despite much hype actually offers little benefit and many dangers, or that you'll supplement. If you have a problem absorbing B12 (several possibilities), it's a lifetime on injectable b12, which isn't bad. Good luck.

Start Escitalopram: It's important to start the antidepressant right away since it may take up to a month for it to have full efficacy. In addition to the escitalopram take the vitamin B12 supplement. Both agents may help any depressive symptoms you may be having.

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!
