CRPS: The golden standard is early treatment- this does not have to be nerve blocks - there are different medications can be tried. You must be seen by a Pain doc.

Call med prescriber.: If you are not feeling better on nortriptyline from the perspective of mood, sleep, appetite, and energy, then your depression may not be responding to this particular medication. I recommend that you talk with the prescriber of the nortriptyline about other potentially beneficial approaches that you have not yet tried and that may be different in how they treat depression.

i have lhermitte's that gets worse with exercise. neuro says its not ms (clear mris/eval). can other nerve problems get worse with exercise?

L'hermitte's : Sounds neurogenic by your use of the term. Cervical radiculopathies, brachial plexus problems, chiari malformation, syrinx, can all cause similar complaints. I assume they were also ruled out by neurologist. Muscles that attach to occipital for thoracic origin or scapular origin can cause this "lightning" like symptom with movement.

what options aside from anticonvulsants are there for nerve pains. i hate anticonvulsants and amytriplyn made me feel worse. what's my options?

Suggestions: Nerve pain medicines include Lyrica, gabapentin, Gralise, Horizant, Cymbalta, and possibly Savella (milnacipran).  The last two would not be used for epilepsy, but Lyrica and gabapentin could be employed as AED's.  Nucynta is an approved opioid for diabetic origin "nerve pain".  Would not suggest amitryptiline anymore due to side effects and lack of efficacy.

i just had my third pudendal nerve block and my symptoms have gotten worse. is this normal?

Call two MDs: It isn't normal, but I can't explain it without more information.  You need to call the anesthesiologist who did the procedure and the physician treating the problem who referred you for the block to see what needs to be done.

Too Vague: Unfortunately it is difficult to advise you of anything given what you've shared.  I'd suggest discussing your options and your concerns about proceeding with surgery.  There are a lot of treatment options but they all depend on your particular situation.

Not clear: I am skeptical about your diagnosis, as guillain-barre usually a fairly significant event with transient substantial weakness, but could instead be chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy, which has a more indolent progressive course.  Did your doctor get spinal fluid?  Did he/she suggest ivig infusions to treat the problem? Are the EMG findings classical or equivocal?

Interesting: When someone describes a symptom that is "all over", I usually find clues on lab work, if this is a new thing for you. I would order CBC with diff and plt, liver tests (AST, ALT, AlkPhos, bilirubin (total &amp; direct)), FULL thyroid panel (TSH, T3, T4, free T4), vitamin d, Homocysteine, B12 &amp; folate, FSH, LH, estradiol, testosterone, and progesterone. Also keep symptom journal for any daily changes.

Nerve root: impingement can lead to loss of function. Motor nerve root transmits impulses to muscles which may atrophy over time if the root compression cannot be alleviated. Sensory nerve root impingement will cause sensory symptoms (numbness, parasthesias and pain) in that nerve root territory. Displacement of a nerve does not necessarily result in dysfunction unless the nerve is stretched or compressed.
