The actual ingredient inducing this response is neomycin, which can also be found in other medications...so it's impt to become a label-reader. The reaction is usually some degree of erythema (redness), possibly papules (bumps) and edema or swelling. The reaction is present only where product is applied.

: It's not effective. If it is still small, hard and you do not feel sick, just apply warm compress 10-15 minutes several times a day. You can take tylenol or advil as needed for pain, oral antibiotic is not required. If the boil does not get smaller or drain spontaneously in a couple days, it should be drained (lanced). For a big and fluctuating boil which could not drain by itself, have it lanced.

Neosporin: Neosporin ointment is petrolatum based and quite oily. Long term use on the skin is probably unwise and could exacerbate acne.  Rather, a cleanser that can eliminate excess oil without drying the skin too much is what would be preferred to treat acne.

Depends: The most common cause of phimosis is recurrent infection/inflammation and this is usually fungal in this area.  I find best results with combined anti fungal and steroid cream.  In rare instances neosporin could benefit.

Triple antibiotic: Neosporin may be available in asia, it really doesn't matter.  Just look for a topical ointment that contains all three ingredients found in neosporin.  These are neomcin, bacitacin, and polymyxin b.
