HIV: The 4th generation HIV testing can help rule out HIV within 30 days. The older 2nd or 3d generation can take up to 38 days.

: That combination of tests is conclusive, although some experts would also recommend a final AgAb (4th generation) blood test at least 6 weeks after the exposure.

i had unprotected sex with my gf on 29 and 30 march and started having all hiv symptoms which lasted for about five weeks. i then tested for hiv using oraquick on 6th and 7th week which tested negative.how accurate is oraquick at this stage?

: HIV test results always overrule symptoms, no matter how typical the symptoms might seem to be for HIV. It isn't possible to have HIV symptoms and not have HIV antibody. However, the oral fluids HIV test never becomes positive in up to 5% of people with HIV. Probably you don't have HIV, but to be certain you need a lab-based HIV blood test. Good luck.

If new exposures: If a person has new, risky exposures to HIV, after testing negative, then future testing can be done. The fix here is, of course, to NOT expose oneself to new, risky situations... otherwise, one will either worry all the time, or have to do periodic testing in the future. If one does not stop risky exposures, there is no other way around it.

HIV: Without knowing what your white tongue was due to it would be very unusual even for acute HIV infection to manifest itself 5 days after being infected. If you are being followed up, continue your testing. If you really want definitive confirmation of negativity you might get a PCR for HIV RNA. Good luck.

Unclear question: If you did not engage in unprotected sex, drug abuse, sharing needles, or sex with men, and the HIV test was negative, you do not have HIV. To be sure, you may wish to get a HIV nucleic acid test in about 6 months. HIV does not spread through the air, so being from Uganda does not equate to HIV.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Yes: If the mother takes appropriate antivirals, she can reduce the risk of transmission to less than 1%!

Accepted Answer

Yes: Hiv +ve mothers need to be on antiretroviral medication to reduce HIV viral load as low as possible, prolonged labor & breastfeed ing after birth should be avoided. This reduces risk down to about 1 - 2%. Prosective HIV +ve fathers can have their sperm washed (expensive) and partner can then be impregnanted by artificial insemination.

HIV: This test measures p24 antigen and HIV antibodies and if negative 4 mos after exposure has an inordinately high likelihood that you are negative and will remain so if you do not have further exposures. Some might advise being retested at 6 mos, but doubt this is necessary. Best wishes.

Need details: A single nucleic acid test after the interval during which this becomes positive is proof enough that you are not infected. You're young. I trust you'll play safe from now on, and if you continue to have obsessive thoughts that you have become infected, sit down with your physician or someone who's trained in helping you get back into control of these unwanted and unhelpful thoughts.
