Irregular period.: Not pregnant. If this spotting is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections, hormonal changes, cancer can cause spotting. There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle.

You could be: Women with pcos usually have irregular periods. This is because the time it takes to select an egg for ovulation is unpredictable. Your symptoms of egg white mucus may indicate that you are ovulating now. But if you ovulated 5 days ago and the egg is fertilized, you wouldn't have a positive test yet.

A neg test has: Nothing to do with whether u can get pregnant or not, if you have been trying for 12 months then u need to see your OB for a work-up, or at your age i would start to do a workup if you had been trying 6 months, as easy thing to do is get an ovulation kit to make sure you are ovulating.

Have to check HCG: Ha, not trying to be funny but the HCG test is a pregnancy test so it would have to be done before you can know whether someone is pregnant or not unless, of course its obvious by the woman's appearance. Ultrasound: Sonograms are useful in estimating due date and conception date.  Blood levels are not useful in date estimates, so much. But very pregnant, somewhere in the 1st trimester.
