why are my neck veins bulging lol?

Increased pressure: The act of lol results in a valsalva maneuver, where holding of the breath causes increase in the chest pressure.  This pressure acts upon the veins in the chest, and is pushed upwards to the head and neck area, resulting in bulging veins.  This is a normal situation, so keep on lol; it's good for you.

JVD: Jugular venous distension: most of time is normal in some individuals. The question is whether or not there is something compressing it nearby: sup. Vena cava syndrome or whether or not there is a disease in the heart or lungs that increases the pressure in the venous system (congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary emboli, copd, lung cancer. Get checked for lung and heart.

Normal veins: It is not uncommon for veins in the neck to stand out when you increase pressure in your chest. This can occur when you cough, laugh, or bear down. Neck veins can also bulge when you have too much fluid in your body or when part of your heart is not working properly. A doctor may examine you and listen to the heart for evaluation. It is not generally related to heart rhythm problems.

De-stressing: You can try massage, or shopping spree.  Or if you were me, a musical concert (classical or symphonic, not hard rock or metal) and a glass of wine in the evenings.  Good luck.

Probably not: First, neck vein distension can be caused by many things, only one of which is heart failure. Second, if it were due to heart failure, it would likely be on both sides, and then would reflect problems on the right heart.  But since the most common cause of right heart failure is left heart failure, neck vein distension is a sign of heart failure. But not likely in you.  Talk to your own doctor.

Calm down: Anger causes one to strain, thus increasing the pressure within the chest.  This pressure is transmitted to the veins in the chest, and upwards to the head and neck area, resulting in bulging veins, increased redness.  A good example is when one sees a singer holding a note, or when a weight lifter strains to hold the barbells.  Relax, count to ten taking slow breaths in and out to hide them.

No: Enlarged jugular viens can mean several things. But usually it means an increase in the pressure to the right side of heart. Such as right sided heart failure, biventricular failure, pulmonary hypertension. An obstruction like a tumor can also cause this . If this is a new finding then you should go see your doctor to work this up. The fast heart rate my be more reactive than causual.

i have a bulging neck vein on my left side, starting right above my collar bone. there are no other symptoms. im slightly underweight ?
