TB: Fibrinogen levels increase under stimulation of the liver, usually by the presence of fibrin degradation products, but sometimes due to liver damage. The ESR and CRP are non-specific indicators of an inflammatory process and this might be the TB, the medications (INH particularly) or something else going on. Go back and see the doctor who is treating you. Best wishes.

Thrombocytopenia: Low platelets and replacement of platelets depends on the cause if it was bone marrow failure whether primary or secondary the 8thousand platelets needs replacement. If the cause is immune thrombocytopenia the urgency to transfuse platelets is not compelling since one shot of steroids will raise them on the second day.

Several options. : Sounds like itp.  There are several treatment options.  There are oral options.  You have tries steroids. There are 2 different steroids commonly used. Seems these do not work. Iv infusion options include ivig, winrho, and rituximab. Many of these options are more likely to work of there is a steroid response. Another option is no medications unless there is significant bleeding or planned surgery.

That: Is low. First question is this after chemo and other details of the medical context. More urgent if he is bleeding, although not always the case even with count this low. Transfustion of platelets can be done if appropriate to his circumstances.

my husband has essential thrombocythemia with calr mutation. his hematologist just changed his medication from hydroxurea to baby aspirin since december. his platelet count increased from 380 to 1118 within 6 months. would this be a safe treatment?

: I'd be concerned about undertreatment in view of that high platelet count. Perhaps the hematologist is concerned about long term hydroxyurea causing leukemia. Hydroxyurea plus low dose aspirin is the extent of my experience but there are other treatment options. A consultation at a university hospital department of hematology would be worthwhile.

Need more info: It would be helpful to know the results of complete blood count. High platelet count is often a side effect of iron deficiency. Also bleeding, iron deficiency or people whose spleens have been removed.

Sometimes, more  associated with older populations conditions associated with primary bone marrow disorders called myleoproliferative disease can be associated with increase platelets.

Blood problem: High platelets come from infection, inflammation, bleeding, iron deficiency, tumors, and various blood diseases.  If there is an electrolyte problem from platelets it usually is high potassium as platelets have hight potassium content.  High platelets won't cause high calcium directly.    High calcium can be from excess  vitamin d, hormone problems or tumors.
