does nasal cartilage heal back to its original form?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily: Cartiladge has a poor blood supply & depending where it is located can be disfiguring if traumatized.  It is important to have it replace to as much of the original position as possible and be followed by a reputable ENT or plastic surgeon.  Splinting is important.  Sometimes a re-do is necessary or further surgery and splinting.  Deformity may be expected but perhaps doesn't have to  b permanent.

Surgery vs props: In the nighttime, you can use nasal-opening strips or cones to keep the nostrils open but, for a permanent solution, you would need to consult with a facial plastic surgeon who can advise you.  There are surgical procedures which can restore the structural integrity of the nose so that it won't collapse.

is it possible to have a fluid filed cyst on inside of cartilage in nose near tip of nose? over the years the cyst has grown and weeps at times.

Get it checked out!: It may be a simple cyst, but if this is growing over time you need to be sure its not something more serious. Please be sure to get it checked. This is one of those things that really need to be looked at.

Nose: Cartilage pain. You can get irritation chonral junction with bone. Infection or even tumor. Can you get a visit with an ENT physician?

ive always had a small bump on sides of upper nose but lately one side looks bigger. could constantly taking deep breaths(due to back issue) & excessive yawning daily cause that or would those repetitive actions not change bone or cartilage in nose?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. What you described is not likely to be related to yawning or breathing. The lesions could be intradermal nevi. It would be prudent to see a doctor.

Nerve pain: Chronic or recurrent pain in or near the shoulder blade may come from a nerve entrapment or irritation from spurs or bulging disk in the upper spine. If symptoms persist or worsen, see an orthopedic specialist for evaluation and imaging studies. . Lung causes and scapular problems are possible also.

what type of diagnostics are available to identify cartilage inflammation? possible inflamed trachea, scared endoscopy will detrimentally inflame

It probably won't...: There is no cartilage in the esophagus, nor does the upper GI endoscope come in contact with the larynx or trachea. What symptoms are you experiencing (and where) that cause you to feel you have "cartilage inflammation, " and need testing for it?

will 3t mri be more effective in finding cartilage inflammation in chest and neck, or am i fine with 1.5 t? any considerable differences? any safety concerns between 1.5 t  and 3t?

Both: Both are fine. The 3t is a stronger magnet and does produce more high resolution images with  greater detail, but a 1.5t magnet is usually perfectly capable of producing good images for such studies. Some patients have reported strage sensations or even hallucinations in 3t magnets, but this is very rare.

do walking and swimming help fighting the inflammation in the kneecap and help regenerate the cartilage ( i'm 21 years old , no rehumatoid)?

Accepted Answer

Knee pain: Those are both low impact exercises that will help with keeping you in motion.  I would also increase diet, consider glucosamine as some people have found improvement in cartilage.  That being said ligaments should be properly evaluated by orthopedic.

what are the risks? 
i need to done one on both knees - mri showed that my knee cartilage is not smooth & that theres a tendon which is sharp headed and causing pain & inflammation)
discomfort walking down stairs

Knee arthroscopy: Risk from knee arthroscopy is 5% and serious risk from knee arthroscopy is less than 1%.
 Complications include the following:  swelling, stiffness, progression of cartilage damage, infection, blood clot.
