Crutches: Stop walking on the ankle to speed recovery. Ibuprofen and ice are also very helpful. If not greatly improved after 2 weeks off of it-see a Podiatrist or orthopedist

OK but not too tight: An ace bandage can help with management of soft tissue swelling and provide a sense of support which is fine while sleeping.

Comfort: If she is more comfortable then yes. It can be removed if not weight bearing. Often it helpful even at night as it protects the ankle. All the best and thank you.

Try it without.: You probably don't have to sleep in the cast, but the foot and leg should be elevated. Use several pillows to supply support to the entire leg. The foot needs to be elevated to speed up the de-swelling process. Ice application and swelling reduction should reduce the pain. Try taking Advil (ibuprofen) for faster pain relief. If you need to get up at night, use the crutches.

Depends: Without a proper exam, it's hard to say. Sprain treatment can range from a few weeks of compression to months of casting or even surgery. The best person to ask is the doctor treating you, whether it be an orthopedist or podiatrist. If you don't allow adequate healing time, you risk an unstable ankle.

Yes: If you hit your head or had a rapid "whiplash" type mechanism during your fall, then you could have a concussion. Headache, fatigue, dizziness, balance problems, light &amp; noise sensitivity, memory or concentration problems are the most common post-concussion symptoms. Brain &amp; body rest are the keys to recovery in the first 1-2 weeks. No activities now that could result in another blow to the head.

Brusing: The normal process by which a bruise heals is through the reabsorption of the hemoglobin from the injury.  The varying colors is the breakdown of heme, which is the part of the red blood cells that carry iron.  The colorations are the varying degrees of iron in the tissues from the injury.  Time will only allow it to heal.  Warm compresses increase circulation, which may help.

It may take months: Ankle/foot sprains are known to last longer than other parts of body because of their weight-bearing nature on every step you take. Mild sprain may last couple of wks, but severe ones may take months, good shoes/cushions, ankle support/aircast/braces may help. Elevate when u can. Motrin/aleve may easy pain/inflammation. If persistent/more severe, consult doc. My ankle sprain  x5 months-still sore.
