he has been having cold symptoms for a week now, last night he threw up bile. this morning he has a light fever and also complaining about headache.

should i rather take hom to the doctor ?

Sinusitis?: Chronic sinusitis in a 3 year old is very uncommon. Suggest you see a pediatrician and get a second opinion. He may well have pneumonia or other illnesses.

my 7 year old son has symptoms of a cold. coughing, running nose, mild fever, etc. i gave him 15 ml of childrens nyquil and within five minutes he began vomiting. i wont be giving him any more. is this a common side effect? should i be concerned?

: Influenza can involve coughing, runny nose, mild fever and vomiting. NYquil is not known for causing vomiting, but it may be that your son's illness was already priming him for a sensitive stomach. The best treatment for children who are ill with these symptoms is humidification and saline drops.

ER doc is probably: Correct.  For the past three..What? Days, weeks, hours?  As an er doc myself, i'd have to look at him before i could make any further judgment.  If you are concerned, return to the er for further evaluation.

Viral gastroenteriti: Most likely viral, so treat with clear fluids like pedialyte, juice, water.  If unable to keep down clears ,or voiding less than every 8 hrs then may need IVF.  Consider bacterial etiology if blood in the stool and persistent fever.

It Depends: If the symptoms started today you can wait a day to see how it progresses.  If it has been going on for more than a couple of days he should be checked by your doctor for a treatable condition or to give you guidance for supporting him through it.

May take a week : It takes at least week to 10 days for stomach infection to settle . Keep up the fluids and very slowly advance to semi solid diet
