It depends: How well it heals depends  on many factors, including how bad the tear  was, your shoulder health  prior to the injury, and how well  you comply with the rest and  PT program.  They do take a long time to heal.  If they do not heal, significant strength and movement restrictions and  pain may occur.

Hopefully: A small labral tear can potentially heal on its own, or it also may not.  The injection of stem cells, platelette derived growth factor, or other " growth factors" has been tried for several years; with variable results.  The good thing is it is relatively safe, and hopefully the tear will heal.  What is not clear if the cells or growth factor was any benefit; but again hopefully you will do well.

NSAIDs : Ibuprofen or Naproxen, for example work the best if tolerated and no specific contraindications are in place. Alternatively, Acetaminophen can be used with less anti inflammatory effect. Physical therapy should be part of the plan.

: From your words, there is NO description of a rotator cuff tear, and the findings suggest conservative intervention and tincture of time should be helpful.  Have you NOT yet had a discussion with the doctor who ordered these films?  If not so far, schedule a meetiing?

Typical: This is typical in your age group.  By age 50, the large majority of men (especially athletes) with have some degree of rotator cuff injury.  My orthopedic colleague once told me, "if you're 35, and not pitching in the big leagues, then just live with it."  obviously that's very general, but rest and physical therapy to strengthen the shoulder should suffice and surgery may not be needed.

See below: Impingement refers to the concept that the rotator cuff is getting pinched between the ball and a bone called the acromion (part of the shoulder girdle) in the overhead positions. Obviously, rotator cuff tear implies a a tear in the rotator cuff. Repetetive impingment could lead to a rotator cuff tear.

?tear on nerve: Do you mean rotator cuff tear, and if so, you need to see orthopedic surgeon, and not manage on your own.  The brachial plexus goes into the shoulder area, is there a nerve locally that has been injured, such a supra scapular, axillary, or perhaps thoracic outlet syndrome?  You need to discuss this fully with your doctor, and then get this treated.

Shoulder Dislocation: Go to ER or your PCP immediately if you are concerned.  If this is a shoulder dislocation, you may risk nerve damage to various nerves if it doesn't improve or reset.  Also could you have torn a muscle in your rotator cuff that is also possible.  Either way it should be looked right away.
